Sports Are Not Just Game To Play But Also Lessons

Sports, what is it for a student? When a student heard the word "Intramurals", its twin is happiness to all of us. Smiling face and excitement can be pictured in each of ones faces. Maybe the reason are: there will be no classes and this is the season of battling and showing your great abilities in every sports.

In a studious student, studying is not the only thing that he must do in the whole school year. Of course, stretching your muscles and bending the bones is also essential for a student. On intrams, we are free to play and we are free on pressures. Sometimes, in order to study well, joy is needed that's why Intramurals in every school were created, am I right? From the movie 3 Idiots, a university is not a pressure cooker, it is a university!

Intramurals is important to us not only for the relief on the pressure but also for the exercise it gives that makes us healthier. Determination will be develop also. Although we fall, we can always stand and fight for your team, for a triumph, for the win, for the trophy! We learn how to represent a team. Building leadership can be seen also during every game. Leaders uses tactics, techniques and strategies in order to overcome the obstacles that block them through the victory. Thinking critically was used in every game.

But of course, the most important in every game we play is the sportsmanship and friendship that we can develop in our hearts. Be a humble winner and a happy loser. Instead of accepting defeat negatively, we must accept it as a recommendation for us to do our best next time and to challenge ourselves. For me, Intramurals is the heart of every school year.

Mother Tongue is First in Line!

It is not new to us the battle between the use of our Mother Tongue and the use of Foreign Languages. I know that you know Dr. Jose Rizal's quotation; "Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika, ay mas mabaho pa kaysa sa malansang isda." tells us that we must love our own language but still it was said that we must use English when teaching at the schools. I really don't know if this is right or wrong. Still, it is on our own opinion.

Based on facts, there are pure Filipinos who don't know how to speak our language because English was first introduced to them by their parents. Even when I am just walking in the mall, I can hear children who use English instead of Tagalog while speaking to their mother. I know when some of you hear a Filipino child about 3-4 years of age speaking in English, you think that he or she is smart, and rich. I don't feel the same when I hear a child like that. If a child speaks in English, he or she is rich and smart already? How about a child speaking in Tagalog? Of course you won't think that he or she is smart and rich. All I can see through this thinking is racism and discrimination! Isn't it unfair? Do you accept that you are more pungent than a fish?

I know that using foreign languages isn't bad, not at all. But still, mastery of our Mother Tongue must be the first in line instead of the Fluency of Foreign Languages. We must learn how to use Tagalog first and master it before introducing new language to our tongue. Isn't it awful if we are Pinoy and Pinay but we cannot use our language fluently? Come to think of it, we must not be an alien to our language? It is like an Earthling living on Mars! I am not against using other language but please, the percentage of the knowledge in our language must be larger than any other languages. I don't want to see Philippines, with Pinoy and Pinay living with foreign languages and our Mother Tongue is deeply buried in the wilderness.

The Rooster, The Hen, and The Falcon

Once there was two animals that were friends. A rooster named Ron and a falcon named Fred. The two animals have a good rapport to each other. They are always together in looking for food. Fred helps Ron in getting his favorite fruits from a chandelier-like tree with fruits that looks like a light bulb because he cannot fly as high as Fred while Ron helps Fred in looking for a delicious worm which is his favorite food. It is like a mutualism relationship in terms of Science. But this appeasing friendship suddenly changed into a contumacious relationship caused by jealousy.

One day, it's Ron's birthday and he invited all the neighboring animals including his bestfriend Fred.
While the party, that was attended by the entourage, is happening, Ron saw a garrulous yet pretty hen wearing a red babushka on her head. He walked towards the hen then he asked her name. The hen's name is Hyrene and Ron felt like her name is an angel's name coming from heaven. He easily fell in love with the hen and he started to be like a surveillance camera to her. Just like Ron, Fred fell in love with Hyrene too and when he knew that Ron likes her also, he started to be angry at him! Because of that, Hyrene and Ron had a unanimous decision to have a rendezvous at a secret tryst because they both knew that a falcon is a very strong and a rambunctious kind of bird.

At their meeting place, they always talk sweetly about anything although it is a piffle topic just to make the scene alive. They also have a picnic everyday and eat delicious canapes and cold parfaits. While their having the date, they didn't know that Fred was watching over them like a sleuth and he always feels like holding a haft of a sharp knife and he wanted to kill Ron.

Many months had past, they married each other inspite of Fred's feeling and had 12 children. Fred, who is living in a world of grief and anger. In result of that, Fred put the anger on the couple's ephebes that causes them to vociferate. This is the reason behind why Falcons want to eat the chicks of Hens
