Father's Day Must Be Everyday! Right?

First of all, what is a father, or a dad, papa, tatay, itay, ama or whatever you call your dad? Is a father just a person, a simple person working for us? Of course you will answer no. I know some of you become angry when your father is scolding you, but did your mind tell you WHY your father is scolding you? I also know that some of you are telling that if there are FATHER'S DAY and MOTHER'S DAY, there should also CHILDREN'S DAY, but once again, isn't everyday, children's day? Our parents always caring for us, sacrificing, working and many priceless things that they always give to us. Maybe it is the answer that's why there's no children's or kid's day. Anyway, all I want to say is, a father is irreplaceable .

“When he came to his senses, he said… “I will set out and go back to my father”  –Luke 15:17.
It is a verse on the Bible about the prodigal son that tells us that you can still come home no matter how far you have wondered or how deep your sins are. In that story, the son asked for his inheritance and spent them for useless things, but still the father accepted him. Can you imagine how a father loves their children? How our father loves us? Endless and priceless, the only two words to describe a father's love.

When I was a kid, Father's day is nothing to me, a normal day, a simple day, a no special day. I don't even greet my father, even a single sentence, a single phrase, or a singles sentence. But the past Father's day made me awake from that lullaby. I realized that this day is a special day for a special man of our life, our father. "Thanks dad for all, thanks for sacrificing, caring, making us a well-disciplined kids and a person with great fear to God", this is just a sentence, simple to read but hard to say to him. I am shy to say this to him because he knows that I am not a dramatic person and I guess he won't expect that line coming from my mouth. We all know that doing is better than saying so, instead of saying, I'd rather express it by means of actions.

My father's working away from us. He is working at Santa Maria, Bulacan, too far from Cavite right? Because of that, he is just going home weekly, sometimes not. It was June 16, saturday in the morning, I planned to clean the house, especially his bedroom. I also used my skills in drawing and I made  a mocked face of him like in editorial articles and there written a "Happy Father's Day" greetings. Using my allowance, I bought him a pair of slippers because, I saw that his slippers are old and he does not want to buy new one because he is thinking that the money that he will use will be better spent on us instead of his slippers, so I guess it is payback time!

It is already 7:00 at night when my dad arrived the house tired from driving. His back aching, his feet were in pain too so after hugging us, he went straight to his bedroom. Then suddenly, he shouted "Wow naman! Ba't ang linis ng kwarto ko? Naglinis ka ba nanay (my mother) ?". One hundred grams of smile will be seen on my face when I heard that. My mother told him that I am the one who made it clean as clean as I can. My father ran towards to me and then hugged me. I was laughing when he hugged me, we were both laughing, laughing like the judgement day will be tomorrow. I guess he is laughing because he did not expect that and I laughed because of his reactions carved on his face. After that, I showed him my artwork, after the short silence, we laughed again because of that mocked face printed on the paper. His laughs are out of control and it looks like it is unlimited. He said "Ba't ang pangit ko dito? Hahaha!". Then I answered "Because it is a mocked face of yours dad! Hahaha". That night was full of laughter and joy.

Sunday morning, it is a great day. When the eyelids of my eyes started to open up, the first person I saw is my father. He pulled my right hand and dragged me towards the compartment of the car. There he showed me several boxes of school supplies. Of course, I asked him the reason why there are many school supplies there. My father told me with great excitement and pride that we will give those things as donations to his former alma mater, the Tabora Elementary School. That time, I realized that my father know how to lean back to the place where he started his journey of his life. We packed the school supplies in plastics and that served as the bonding moments of our family. This is how my father celebrated the day, by helping others by means of donating to the unfortunate ones. What he just did seems simple to use, but meaningful to the unfortunate students and when we got to that school, our hearts were filled with joy and happiness that touched our feelings. It was a wonderful day to remember.

That day, my father was not a simple citizen of Barangay Tabora. That day, he was the superhero of unfortunate students. That day, he was a model to us. And most of all, that day he was the Angel of all children because he showed me good deeds and actions. He showed us not just by means of speaking, but by means of actions. Also that day, a sudden revelation happened. I was able to say to him all the things I wanted to tell him. My father was very proud for me.

I know that you can hear the music playing right now. This song is dedicated to my very own father. This song is also serves as an acknowledgement to him for raising me up, for forgiving my sins and for making me from a little boy into a blessed man. Thank you very much dad!

*I won't let you read this dad! I'm still a little shy to show this thing to you. hehehe XD*
